Gastric sleeve

Manga Gástrica. Obesity Science. CDMX. México.

Information about the procedure

Vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG), often called a sleeve, is a bariatric surgery performed by removing approximately 80% of the stomach. The remaining stomach is a tubular pouch that resembles a banana. It limits the amount of food you can eat, making you feel full after eating small amounts of food.

Advantage

  • It restricts the amount of food the stomach can hold.

  • It induces rapid and significant weight loss that comparative studies find similar to that of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. Weight loss greater than 50% for data of 3-5 years, and weight loss comparable to that of bypass with maintenance of more than 50 percent.

  • It does not require foreign objects (AGB) or bypass or redirection of the food stream (RYGB).

  • It involves a relatively short hospital stay of about two days.

  • It causes favorable changes in intestinal hormones that suppress hunger, reduce appetite, and improve satiety.

Schedule online. It's easy, fast and secure.
